Detailed description of La Contenta Golf Club
La Contenta Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Valley Springs, California.
The La Contenta Golf Club golf course first opened in 1973. The course was designed by Richard Bigler.
Set in the rolling foothills thirty-five miles east from the City of Stockton, La Contenta Golf Club challenges you with out-of-bounds stakes lining fourteen holes and water hazards coming into play on nine holes. Be ready to hit plenty of blind shots as well as approach shots from off side hill lies. The layout affords outstanding vistas of the surrounding area on virtually every hole
Par for the course is 72. From the back
Watch out for # 9, a 392 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 309 yard par-4. The signature hole at the La Contenta Golf Club golf course is #13, a 178-yard, par 3, which drops 100 feet from off the tee to an L-shaped green almost completely surrounded by water.
#1 – 382 yards, par 4. Dog leg right, with small creek 70 yards in front of the green. Green slopes slightly from front to back. Straightforward starting hole.
#2 – 167 yards, par 3. Good par three! Tee shot must carry large pond to an elevated green that is guarded by large bunkers. Use half a club more than normal. Par is good score on this difficult par three.
#3 – 471 yards, par 5. Tee shot in fairway a must on this hole. OB left and right make tee shot difficult. Ball placed on the top of hill leaves approximately 220 yards to the front of the green. Be happy with par on this short par five.
#4 – 201 yards, par 3. This par three is harder than it looks. Downhill, with a large green, and surrounding bunkers make par a great score on this hole.
#5 – 292 yards, par 4. Short uphill par four that can yield many birdies with a good drive in the fairway. Uphill second shot to a green that you can’t see makes getting it close to the hole difficult. Miss it left or right and you’re in trouble.
#6 – 311 yard, par 4. Mid to long iron, or fairway wood off the tee a good play here. Aim to the left edge of the bunker. This leaves you with a short iron to a large green. Watch out for water in front of the green.
#7 – 456 yards, par 5. Best par five on the golf course. Water right, and OB left, make this tee shot the hardest on the course. A ball placed in the fairway leaves you with a hard choice: carry the lake to the green, or lay up? Leave here happy with a par.
#8 – 195 yards, par 3. Similar to the fourth hole. Water
#9 – 392 yards, par 4.
#10 – 410 yards, par 4. A tee shot to a sometimes blind landing area makes this long par four tough. The green is guarded to the right by a creek and to the left by a tree and OB.
#11 – 391 yards, par 4. Dog leg right par four that is set up by the tee shot. A drive to the middle of the fairway leaves you to
#12 – 338 yards, par 4. Short, but difficult par four. Stay left of the large oak tree in the fairway. One more club is needed to get to this elevated three-tiered green that slopes severely from back to front. Three-putts are common on this green!
#13 – 178 yards, par 3. Signature hole. Great par three with an elevated tee and a pond in the front of the green. Green slopes from back to front. Above the hole is not the place to be on this hole.
#14 – 451 yards, par 5. This par five requires a tee shot that is accurate, not long. The crest of the hill is the best place to be. Green slopes from back to front. This par five warrants many birdies and bogeys.
#15 – 332 yards, par 4. Best play off the tee is to hit a driver over the top of the oak tree in front of the tee blocks. Drive in the fairway will leave a short iron to
#16 – 418 yards, par 4. OB left makes the drive a difficult one. Long to mid iron second shot to a deep
#17 – 309 yards, par 4. Easiest hole on the course. Green is not very deep, and the bunker in the front will grab many golf balls.
#18 – 447 yards, par 5. Easily the hardest hole on the course! Short par five that has OB left and water through the fairway. Don’t let the short distance fool you! Ball in the fairway a must. Second shot to this green is the hardest on the course. Green is completely surrounded by water. Any shot astray is in trouble. Green is fairly flat.
